In her first two months as Youth Ministry Director for the Viatorian parishes in the Bourbonnais/Kankakee region, Amanda Fierce is introducing lots of new events, including a summer Bible study open to middle school and high school students.

Students watch a video from Formed about the Prophets.

The sessions took place at Maternity BVM Parish, but they also included young people from nearby St. George Parish as well. They included content from the video series, Formed, but that was just the start. They covered reflections on the Book of Psalms, Proverbs and Acts, as well as the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.

Two of the evening sessions included praying the rosary together in the parish’s historic grotto, while at the third session the young people requested praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet instead.

Each of the Bible study sessions included dinner and for the last meeting, Fr. Jason Nesbit, CSV, Pastor, grilled for the group, before he and Fr. Moses Mesh, CSV, Pariochial Vicar, sat down and enjoyed visiting with the young people.

Students pray the rosary at the grotto.

“Our hearts are full this evening as we concluded the Youth Ministry Summer Bible Study,” parish officials said. “Our children of God had a great time while enjoying worship, fellowship and fun. These kids are a blessing to our Parish!”

Youth ministry and accompanying young people on their spiritual journeys has always been a priority for Viatorians. This summer Bible study validates that priority and reinforces the Viatorian mission, of raising up communities where faith is lived, deepened and celebrated.

Fr. Jason hosts the buffet dinner.
