Br. Peter Lamick, CSV, and members of the Vocation Ministry Team are going right to the source. They arrived this week in Salt Lake City, site of the 2025 edition of SEEK, sponsored by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, or FOCUS. The massive convention expects to draw nearly 20,000 people, who are “seeking to hear the call and live differently.”

“It’s the largest gathering of young adult Catholics in the country,” Br. Peter says.

Officially, SEEK is a five-day conference that invites students from across the country to encounter Christ and to grow in fellowship with others through daily Mass, adoration, dynamic Catholic speakers and lively entertainment. This year’s theme is: Making Missionary Disciples.

Viatorians on hand include Br. Peter, Fr. John Eustice, CSV, Br. Jhobany Orduz, CSV, and Br. Rob Robertson, CSV. They see the convention as a way to initiate and build relationships.

“We hope to make connections with discerners who are interested in religious life,” Br. Peter adds. “We’re promoting our young men’s discern group.”

Viatorians are one of more than 75 religious communities helping to sponsor the event, along with dozens of Catholic dioceses, universities, foundations and service organizations.

Members of the Vocation Ministry Team are manning a booth in an exhibit hall, called Mission Way, along with other religious communities, although Fr. John also concelebrated the opening Mass and is helping to hear confessions.

In preparing for the conference, the group packed up so much Viatorian information materials and even swag, that they feared they would exceed the 50-pound weight limit with their luggage.

However, the chance to meet thousands of young people, who are active in their faith and consciously looking to “live differently,” was simply too good to pass up.

“Our promotional materials are focused on helping young people discern,” Br. Peter says, “and presenting the Viatorian Community and its mission.”

The trip fulfills a pledge that Br. Peter made some 18 months ago when he assumed the role of Director of Vocation Ministry: to actively be involved with discerners and meet them where they are at.
