Parishioners at St. George Church in Bourbonnais regularly live out their faith at this Viatorian parish, from social justice outreach, to vibrant liturgies and creating sacred spaces in and outside of their church.
Their newest endeavor responds to a pressing need in the worldwide church: promoting religious vocations.
Viatorian associates and professed met for their first meeting of the Parish Vocations Team. Members included Fr. Daniel Belanger, CSV, Pastor, and Associates Curt Saindon, David and Susan Surprenant, and Paula Wasser.
Br. John Eustice, CSV, joined the team as Director of Vocation Ministry for the Viatorian Community, and these Viatorians were responding to the community’s call that everyone is called to promote vocations.
“They are trying to create a culture of vocations,” Br. Eustice said, “by setting simple, attainable goals.”
At their first meeting, members discussed ways of highlighting vocations, from bookmarks and promotions around the parish, to holding informal meetings.
“The parish is looking for ways for people to serve the church in an official role, such as religious life,” Br. Eustice adds. “and the team is trying to appeal to the hearts and minds of parishioners.”
