The 15th Viatorian Youth Congress wrapped up last week after bringing together more than 40 high school delegates, 15 young adult leaders and more than one dozen Viatorians. In taking one last look at the experience, two of its young adult leaders — Trevor Lyon, a 2022 graduate of Saint Viator High School and junior at Creighton University, and Milly Colbert, a parishioner at St. Viator Parish and sophomore at UNLV — reflect on its impact and what draws them back.

Pre-Associate Dan Masterton led their discussion in this 15-minute podcast, and Trevor jumped right in: “VYC is the perfect place to deepen one’s faith because it educates us young adults about what it means to be a Viatorian. We work hand in hand with priests, brothers and associates in further developing the Viatorian mission and our relationship with Christ.”

For Milly, she said it is the community of young people from different Viatorian institutions that brings her back: “Coming back every summer we get to continue to build and experience that community and see how other young adults have been able to live out their Viatorian lives.”

Dan, who helped plan this year’s VYC with Br. Peter Lamick, CSV, and Associate Karen Cutler, adds: “It’s really neat to see the Viatorian priority on youth — really thoroughly lived out.”
