At three different Viatorian parishes — Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St.
George, both in Bourbonnais, and St. Viator Catholic Community in Las Vegas — parishioners staged a living last supper on Palm Sunday as a way to bring Holy Week and Jesus’ journey toward his passion, to life.
Visually, the portrayals dramatized the famous painting, “The Last Supper,” by Leonardo Da Vinci, but its script stayed close to the scripture readings, when Jesus announced: “One of you will betray me.”
One at a time, each disciple comes out of the darkness to take his seat at the table, slowly building Da Vinci’s famous image, while the audience pondered different disciples’ stories, and their final question: “Is it I, is it I?”
