Associate Kim Martinez begins her 30th year of teaching at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, but she starts the year with a brand new advanced degree. In May, Martinez earned her Master’s degree in Pastoral Studies from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. And did she did it with Viatorian support.
Martinez was the first female associate to earn the Fr. John E. Linnan, CSV, Theology and Ministry Endowed Scholarship. In this latest podcast episode of Viatorian Voices: Conversations on the Way, Martinez reflects on what it was like to return to school at this point in her life, as well as how the experience changed her and enriched her faith.
“I got to know people from all over the world. It was amazing,” she says of her online courses. “They were all on a journey. I felt like it was a pilgrimage that we were on together.”
