Part of the strategic plan at Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep is not only helping students get into college, but also affording it. In this two-minute video, Preston Kendall, President of the school, explains how the school is putting a new emphasis on college level, dual credit courses.

This summer, they recruited Enrique Treviño, a professor of mathematics at Lake Forest College, to come over and teach a course in intensive statistics. “They were responsible and hard working. They were performing at a college level,” he said of his students.

A total of 19 Cristo Rey students took the course and nearly all had perfect attendance. One student described how difficult it was: “It’s very different for juniors and sophomores who have only experienced geometry and algebra in their lives. It’s more logical thinking that really makes our brains start going in circles.”
