In its latest Justice & Peace Alert, leaders of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men issued a statement of pastoral concern for immigrants, saying “We stand in firm solidarity with our immigrant brothers and sisters.”

Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, president of USCCB, Bishop Mark J. Seitz, chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on Migration, and Bishop Jaime  Soto, chairman of the board for the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., issued the statement. In it, they called for “an immigration system that offers fair and generous pathways to full citizenship for immigrants living and working for many years within our borders.”

The bishops urged its members to speak out on behalf of “huddled masses yearning to breathe free” and ask the U.S. government to provide fair and humane treatment.
