His connection to the Viatorians stretches back 47 years, but over the last five years Pat Mahoney has deepened that connection even more.
He had served as a teacher, coach, dean of men and ultimately development director at Saint Viator High School, but ultimately it was working along-side of the Viatorians that made a lasting impact.
In 2009, he joined the Viatorian Community as a lay associate and at a St. Viator Day celebration, he renewed his commitment for a period of five more years.
When asked by Fr. Thomas von Behren, CSV, provincial whether he was prepared to recommit himself as a Viatorian, Pat answered, “absolutely and wholeheartedly.”
“I promise to live the gospel values according to the Viatorian charism,” Pat said, “and to actively participate in our mission.”
The community of associates and professed Viatorians welcomed Pat and other pre-associates who had gathered, crediting them with “widening our collective vision” as they discover new ways of witnessing together in faith.
“May our shared journey lead us to opportunities for creativity,” they said; “may the richness of our diverse gifts offer us new possibilities in living out our Viatorian mission.”
