Wednesday, August 10th, was the last work day for Katelyn Meehan, the first volunteer in the Viatorian Community Archives. Katelyn, started volunteering in the archives in November 2010. She faithfully showed up on a weekly basis and logged over 50 hours.
Katelyn added 25 obituaries to the ‘In Memoriam’ webpage, transcribed an oral history audio file, scanned a historical book on the new book scanner and started processing a confrere collection which involved scanning photographs and artwork then putting them in polyester sleeves for storage. Unfortunately time ran out before the finding aid was finished and the collection was entered into Archon (the archival collection management system) – tasks I was hoping she could experience. Oh well – another time, another place!
Best of luck, Katelyn, with all your future endeavors! You were a joy to work with in the archives! It was nice to have a ‘compadre’ to discuss all the various issues and projects!! I appreciated your input!
