Fr. John Pisors, CSV, died Nov. 22 in Bogotá, Colombia. He was born June 27, 1940 in Chicago, the son of George and Agnes (Fitzmorris) Pisors. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles, George and the Rev. Thomas Pisors, CSV, and his sisters, Sr. Helen Pisors, S.S.S.F. and Sr. Mary Pisors, S.S.S.F. He is survived by his brother, Francis Pisors. John pronounced his first vows Sept. 8, 1958 in Arlington Heights. He was ordained June 4, 1966 by Bishop Aloysius Wycislo at Tolentine Hall in Olympia Fields, Illinois.

Fr. Pisors graduated from St. Mary’s Minor Seminary in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He held a B.A. in Mathematics from Loyola University in Chicago, a M. S. in Science & Math Education from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and a B.A. in Theology from the Viatorian Seminary in Washington, D.C. He began his ministry at Saint Viator High School, teaching just one year, 1966-67, before he moved to Bogotá, where he was a teacher (1967-1973, 1979-1981) and principal (1974-1978) at Colegio San Viator. From 1981-1982 he was parochial vicar at Blessed Agnes Church in Chicago, before returning to Colombia in 1982 to serve as family apostolate at Parroquia Cristo Rey in Medellin. In 1987 he returned to teach at Colegio San Viator in Bogotá. He continued his pastoral ministry at various schools in the Bogotá area from 1998 to 2008 and in the English Department at San Viator, Bogotá from 2002 until his retirement in 2022. In retirement, Fr. Pisors lived in residence at Colegio San Viator with the Viatorian community in Bogotá.

A memorial Mass took place Dec. 3 at Colegio San Viator Bilingüe Internacional in Bogotá, Colombia.
