As the U.S. Senate debates the 2024 Supplemental Budget Bill, Viatorians are joining with members of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and the Chicago-based National Immigrant Justice Center, to defend immigrant communities and asylum seekers.
The Viatorian Provincial council signed a letter that calls on Sen. Dick Durbin — senior senator in Illinois and a member of the Appropriations Committee — to reject any attempt to add harmful immigration provisions to the supplemental spending bill that the Senate is now considering. 
The letter is expected to out on Jan. 8.
