Nearly 60 high school sophomores were sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit Saturday, in a confirmation Mass at St. Viator Catholic Community in Las Vegas.

Auxiliary Bishop Greg Gordon presided over the Mass and conferred the sacrament on the high school teens, with Fr. Richard Rinn, CSV, Pastor, concelebrating.

Among the candidates was Luke Sylvestri, the first St. Viator student to graduate in the school’s groundbreaking Micah 6:8 Program and a faithful altar server for Fr. Rinn.

These confirmation candidates had prepared all year to receive the sacrament, through service projects and retreats organized by the parish’s Faith Formation Coordinator, Associate Rosy Hartz.

Most recently, they traveled to Spring Mountain Ranch State Park for an outdoor retreat. Spring Mountain is located within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Nevada’s Cottonwood Valley. Amid the beauty of the state park, students enjoyed workshops in prayer including meditation, Lectio Divina, forgiveness prayer and prayer cards.

“I am beyond proud of all the youth confirmed last night at St. Viator,” Hartz said. “Be strong in making good choices — and know that you are loved.”
