German Laiton is a young man with purpose. Currently, he is studying architectural engineering at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, but what makes his story unique is that he credits the Viatorian Community with helping him get there.
German graduated from Colegio San Viator in Bogotá, Colombia, and met Viatorians in this country when he attended the Viatorian Youth Congress in 2019. His connections with the Viatorians helped pave the way for him to come to the United States and pursue architectural engineering — a major not available in Colombia — at Olivet, located next door to Maternity BVM Parish in Bourbonnais and run by Viatorians.
Hear him describe the Viatorians’ impact in this video he created for an international scholarship competition. Online votes can help get one “viewers’ choice” video into the group of finalists, and then a group of judges choose a winner for a cash scholarship award. Here’s where to cast a vote.
