This year the Viatorian Community is celebrating 15 years of Association and the theme of the latest exhibit at the Province Center in Arlington Heights. IL is ‘Woven Together.’
Associates are lay men and women who have committed themselves to the Community and share the Viatorian charism along with the vowed brothers and priests. Association was originally the vision of the Community’s founder, Fr. Louis Querbes (1793-1859).
The idea for the theme was inspired from a song of the same name which was originally titled Beech Spring or Sacred Harp. Here are the lyrics of verse 5 that mean so much to me:
“Let us join as one, together, now in thankfulness and praise,
as we count the many blessings woven into all our days.
We are willing, we are able, we are hopeful, we are strong.
May we know the ground we’re standing on is the ground where we belong.”
To represent the life we share, the names of all the current religious and associates were woven together and interspersed with icons of our patron, St. Viator, our founder, Louis Querbes, the Viatorian Community logo and seal and the U.S. flag – all which represent our community.
Also, a photo slideshow celebrating Association is being shown in the foyer near the exhibit. These are photos taken over the past 15 years of associates’ activities and events.
