Immigrants Deserve Humanitarian Rights at Border
June 27, 2017
Members of the Viatorian Community signed a petition this month calling on the border patrol to cease any interference with humanitarian efforts going on at the border.
The petition came after a raid on June 15, when border patrol members raided a medical facility at the border and it resulted in the arrest of four migrants who were receiving medical care.
“This is an outrage and an attack on the lives of migrants and refugees,” the accompanying letter stated. “Thursday’s raid was an escalation of an already violent border policy, and a targeted attack on a civilian, non-violent, humanitarian response to the crisis of death and suffering on the border.”
- We call on Border Patrol and other governmental agencies to end the policies and practices that cause death and suffering of migrants and refugees along the border.
- We assert the right for migrants to receive life-saving humanitarian aid in the midst of the crisis of border deaths.
- We call on Border Patrol and other governmental agencies to cease interference with all humanitarian aid efforts.
