manager, a nursing educator and now a school nurse. She also brings a unique gift to the community as a German speaker. Both her parents were born in Germany and Julie grew up speaking German at home. As an adult, she remains active in promoting her culture.

Julie loves her career as a nurse, but after having a child who developed cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder shortly after birth, Julie learned her true vocation: to fight for the rights of the disabled and those “accounted of little by some.”

She met the Viatorian Community when her younger daughter attended Saint Viator High School, where Julie immersed herself in volunteer activities.

A little more than 10 years after her husband, Randy, joined the Viatorian Community as an associate, Julie began her discernment period, and in 2013 made her first commitment.

Now empty nesters, Julie has broadened her reach of volunteer activities, that include participating in immigration reform efforts, including prayer vigils and helping out at the House of Hospitality, welcoming recently released immigrants.

She is an active participant in the Arlington Heights/Chicago region and supports her husband’s role on the regional planning committee.
